Clinical Interests

Dr. Nelson's primary clinical focus is orthopedic physical therapy. He is an orthopedic certified specialist and  currently treats patients at the UW Spine Physical Therapy Clinic and UW Runners Clinic. He has experience in multiple orthopedic settings treating a diverse mix of orthopedic and sports injuries. He routinely incorporates manual therapy techniques including joint manipulation into his clincial practice. Dr. Nelson enjoys patient centered care integrating patient values with current research evidence for successful clinical outcomes.

Research Interests and Scholarly Activities

Mr. Nelson's current research examines the prevention and treatment of running related injuries using cadence change and video gait analysis as clinical practice interventions.  He has also developed the UW Running Injury and Recovery Index which is the first standardized outcome measure specific to running injuries.
