There are many extracurricular opportunities offered during the three-year DPT Program.

Other Learning Opportunities

Intracurricular

Explore your areas of interest and pursue topics in greater depth with these PT Program opportunities:
  • PT 799: Independent Study (designed specifically for the individual student. Do further research, explore more specific clinical topics, or get further clinical experiences)
  • PT 642: Research Practicum:
    • Coordinate research topics to study an area in greater breadth and depth. Publish in scientific journals, or present posters at local or national conferences
    • See the research page (LINK) for more information on the student’s role in research
  • Shadow faculty in clinical settings
  • UWHC/Meriter Hospital Orthopaedic PT Clinical Residency Program
  • Annual Visiting Lectureship (time is arranged for Visiting Lecturers to spend with students)
  • Get financial assistance through the Program and the Phi Theta Student Organization to attend local, state, and national professional meetings, Student Conclaves, and PT Legislative Days
  • There are over 350 facilities contracted to provide clinical opportunities for our students throughout the country and currently there are service learning opportunities abroad in Belize,Honduras, and Uganda, offering students exposure to diverse patient populations.
