Bryan Heiderscheit, PT, PhD Bryan Heiderscheit, PT, PhD is a professor in the Departments of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and Biomedical Engineering. His research is aimed at understanding and enhancing the management and prevention of orthopedic injuries, with particular focus on sports-related injuries. Dr. Heiderscheit is the director of research for Badger Athletic Performance.

Jennifer Sanfilippo, MS, LAT Jennifer Sanfilippo, MS, LAT is an athletic trainer and coordinator of Badger Athletic Performance within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Her interests are centered on athlete wellness and athletic performance. Her goal is to help athletes reach their maximum performance potential and stay healthy.
Geoffrey S. Baer, MD, PhD Geoffrey S. Baer, MD, PhD is an orthopedic surgeon and associate professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. His research interests include articular cartilage and meniscal injuries and repairs and ACL reconstruction outcomes.

David R. Bell, PhD David Bell, PhD, ATC is an assistant professor in the Departments of Kinesiology and Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. He teaches in the Athletic Training Program and his primary research interests are lower extremity biomechanics and injury prevention.

Neil Binkley, MD Neil Binkley, MD is a professor in the Department of Medicine and co-director of the Osteoporosis Clinical Center and Research Program. His primary research interests are bone health and body composition.

M. Alison Brooks Alison Brooks, MD, MPH is a pediatric sports medicine physician and assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Her primary research interests are the prevention and treatment of sport-related musculoskeletal injuries and concussions in young athletes.

Dan Cobian, DPT, PhD, CSCS Dan Cobian, DPT, PhD, CSCS is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation and an instructor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The objectives of his research are to understand the neuromuscular implications of musculoskeletal trauma, characterize the effects of injury on movement biomechanics, sports performance and function, and determine how to improve treatment and rehabilitation to facilitate better outcomes and long term quality of life.
John Dopp, PharmD John Dopp, PharmD is an associate professor in the School of Pharmacy. His primary research interest is the relationship between sleep disorders and performance.
Dennis Helwig, ATC Dennis Helwig, ATC is the assistant athletic director in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. His research interests include cross-discipline collaboration in the athletic setting and quality of life measures of collegiate athletes.

Stephanie Kliethermes, PhD Stephanie Kliethermes, PhD is an assistant professor in the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation and research director for the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM), where she directs AMSSM’s collaborative research network (CRN), housed in the division of sports medicine. As a biostatistician by training, her primary research interests include applying longitudinal methods to a myriad sports medicine topics associated with tracking athlete well-being over time.
Timothy A. McGuine, PhD Tim McGuine, PhD is a senior scientist in the UW Health Sports Medicine program and the manager of the UW Health Sports Medicine Outcomes Program.

Tamara A. Scerpella Tamara Scerpella, MD is a professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Her primary research interest is in the relationship between physical activity and bone health.

Traci Snedden Traci Snedden, PhD, RN, CPNP is a Postdoctoral Fellow and Nurse Practitioner in the School of Nursing. Her primary research interest is in sport-related concussion and its effects on cognitive function, most specifically related to adverse effects as they relate to learning and academic success.
Mikel Stiffler Mikel Stiffler, MS is a research specialist in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Her interests primarily focus on measuring kinematic and kinetic characteristics during running and jumping to screen for and monitor recovery after lower-extremity injury, as well as developing normative data for injury screening tests.
Jill Thein-Nissenbaum, PT, DSc, SCS, ATC Jill Thein-Nissenbaum, PT, DSc, SCS, ATC is an assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Her primary interest is the prevention of lower extremity musculoskeletal injuries, particularly in the female athlete.

Drew Watson, MD, MS Drew Watson, MD is a pediatrician and primary care sports medicine physician. His research broadly investigates the relationships between aerobic fitness, cardiac function, athletic performance, and injury risk.
