The goals of the UW Pain Treatment Center are to reduce or eliminate pain and to improve patient well-being, physical function and independence.
The burden of chronic pain often includes functional deficits and emotional dysfunctions that are directly related to the pain. For such patients, the most effective treatment model has proven to be a structured approach employing expertise from various disciplines.
Working together, our treatment team creates coherent, individualized treatment plans for patients, based on thorough evaluation, careful diagnosis and clearly stated treatment goals. When the patient has responded well and stably to the treatment plan, he or she will be returned to the primary (referring) physician for long-term follow-up.
We bring together the complementary skills of:
- Physiatrists (rehabilitation physicians)
- Registered nurses
- Nurse practitioners
- Physical and Occupational therapists
