Leg, Foot and Ankle
At UW Health Sports Medicine, our providers are well trained and equipped to diagnose and treat problems involving the lower leg, foot and ankle. Our providers are experts in treating people of all ages, for problems such as plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, stress fractures, traumatic fractures, ankle sprains, and compartment syndromes.
Many foot and ankle problems can be remedied with conservative care including rehabilitation and correctional orthotic devices. When conditions do not respond to conservative care, surgical intervention may be necessary. Our sports medicine physicians collaborate with foot and ankle surgical specialists in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation to treat fractures, repair tendon injuries, correct deformity, manage ankle instability and bone/cartilage from sports-related injuries, and manage heel pain.
The Sports Medicine Program strives to relieve patients of chronic pain and return function and enjoyment to everyday activity.
