Clinical Facilities

The American Center

The American Center (TAC) is a state-of-the-art hospital and clinic providing outpatient and short-term inpatient services for sports medicine, hand, spine, arthroplasty and foot & ankle conditions on the east side of Madison. Since it opened in August 2015, it has become the primary hub for the Sports Medicine Division. As a predominantly orthopedic hospital, this facility includes extensive physical and occupational therapy services and a large sports performance and wellness wing. An indoor basketball court, turf field and elevated track provide space for performance and rehabilitation training, testing and instruction. Nearly all sports medicine surgical procedures are performed at this location and a large outpatient clinic wing provides space for sports medicine providers and all other orthopedic surgical subspecialties. A full complement of adjunct services are available at the American Center.

Research Park

Research Park (RP) is an 84,000 square foot outpatient facility on the west side of Madison. It was home to the UW Sports Medicine program for 25 years, and now operates as the program’s west side presence. It houses a large fitness center/gym, radiology services, sports medicine physical therapy and both exercise physiology and sports performance labs. There is clinic space for sports medicine providers, all of whom see patients at this site once weekly. In addition, the outpatient Pediatric Orthopedic clinic, Spine and Rehabilitation clinic and a duplicate of all ancillary services available at The American Center are provided at this location.
