The University of Wisconsin Orthopedic Funds

Dear Friend,

If you are like me, you enjoy time spent doing your favorite activities. Even if we are not athletes, we all value a healthy and painfree body and the freedom of movement it allows. Little things that we take for granted—walking the dog, dancing at a family wedding or simply lifting a bag of groceries—are all possible because our bodies are incredible, well-engineered systems of joints, muscle and cartilage assembled to work together with precision.

Researchers, surgeons, physicians and clinicians from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation are working together to help eliminate orthopedic conditions that prevent people of all ages from living active, healthy lives. Groundbreaking research on arthritis, bone deformities, sports injuries and other orthopedic conditions is costly, and increasingly in need of philanthropic support. Government grants are no longer enough to advance research that not only keeps active people on the playing field, but gives mobility to those with musculoskeletal disorders like osteoarthritis, scoliosis, spina bifida and clubfoot.

That’s why I am asking you to join me in giving to The Fund for Orthopedic Innovation. My family and I have personally benefited from the clinical expertise, research and educational resources available through the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. We consistently receive world-class care from some of the nation’s best surgeons and sports medicine professionals—without leaving Madison.

My wife, Sally, and I are two of the estimated 79 million baby boomers in America. Hip and knee replacement, ACL injuries and osteoarthritis are increasingly common in our generation. It is amazing to realize that we may one day be the first to benefit from the Department’s promising tissue engineering research that will allow the body’s cartilage, bones and ligaments to regenerate and self-heal. This is why your gift to The Fund for Orthopedic Innovation has never been more important.

Please take a look at the enclosed brochure to learn more about The Fund for Orthopedic Innovation. Join me and others in supporting research and education that keeps people in motion for a lifetime. Thank you for your generous gift of support.

Sincerely,

Kent Klagos
