Dr. John Wollaeger is a board certified orthopedic surgeon whose practice includes care of the shoulder, hip and knee. He performs both arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery to provide the full range of options for treatment of joint problems. In practice since 2000, Dr. Wollaeger has performed over 7500 surgeries in his career. He takes great interest in resident education as well and has been recognized twice with the annual teaching award from the UW orthopedic department.
Originally from California, Doc Wolly graduated with honors from Yale with a degree in Biochemistry. He attended medical school at UCLA and came to University of Wisconsin - Madison for his residency in orthopedics. After residency he was in a general practice in Fort Atkinson, WI for six years before returning to Madison to be on the faculty of the orthopedic department. In 2019 he also became the chief of the orthopedic service at the VA hospital.
