Dr. Noonan earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and his pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. He completed two research fellowships at the University of Iowa in growth plate physiology and at the Clinica Universitaria in Pamplona, Spain in limb lengthening. He is currently working toward a Masters of Health Care Delivery Science at Dartmouth College.
Dr. Noonan’s clinical specialties include all aspects of pediatric orthopedics, especially scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, and other pediatric spine deformities. Spinal techniques include spinal fusion, magnetic growing rods, and titanium rib lengthening. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery. His research interests include growth plate function, spinal deformity surgery, clubfoot and foot deformities, benign bone tumors, and pain management in post-operative patients.
Dr. Noonan was named to the Best Doctors in America List in 2014. He has served on numerous committees of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, and is also a fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics and the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma and Spine. He has authored over 100 journal articles and book chapters and has been a visiting professor at many universities in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Noonan is passionate about providing the very best care for children and contributing to the field of Pediatric Orthopedics through education and research. He endeavors to bring cutting edge treatment to pediatric orthopedic patients here in the U.S. and abroad. Every year he leads a pediatric orthopedic team to Honduras for charitable work.
