Kimberly K. Arndt, MD
Rehabilitation
A Word From Dr. Arndt

My name is Kimberly Arndt. I am a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician. I decided to pursue rehab medicine because of my interests in improving a patient's function and treating the whole person using traditional and integrative approaches. After deciding to become a rehab physician, I experienced my own rehabilitation journey after having four hip surgeries in four years, and using crutches for mobility for much of that time. I believe that having personal experiences to draw from creates more empathy and a deeper understanding of a patient's challenges, which allows me to better treat my patients.

I started working at UW Health in 2009 after residency. I worked in the UW Pain Clinic from 2009-2011 and in the UW Orthopedics Clinic from 2009-2016. I started working at the VA Hospital EMG Clinic in 2009 and I continue to spend one day a week in that clinic. Since 2011, I have been working at Central Wisconsin Center providing care to patients with developmental disabilities. My role at Central Wisconsin Center has continued to increase over time and I stopped seeing patients in an outpatient clinical practice at UW in late 2016.

I am married and have three beautiful daughters. One of my daughters has Down syndrome, which has influenced my career path in ways I never would have expected! I am so thankful to work at Central Wisconsin Center where I can interact with patients and families who are impacted by developmental disabilities of all kinds. Given my own experience, I am able to connect with families on a more personal level and I understand the challenges of caregiving and the impact of disability on the whole family. I love working with patients with developmental disabilities because every patient is unique and challenging. It is rewarding to find the best ways to help the patient and their family thrive day-to-day!
