Dr. David Bernhardt specializes in primary care sports medicine. He is board certified in pediatrics and fellowship trained and holds a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He is a team physician for the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department. In this role, he provides medical coverage for Badger men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and crew along with men/women’s cross country and track. His special interests include pediatric and adolescent athlete concerns. As a primary care sports medicine provider, he does see patients of all age groups. Other interests include the care of concussions, the fatigued athlete and common injuries in distance runners and triathletes. Dr. Bernhardt was the 2017 American Academy of Pediatric Thomas Shaffer award winner recognizing his contributions to the field of pediatric sports medicine by displaying leadership and vision, education, and publication.
