The American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) has recognized outstanding Own the Bone institutions in the annual U.S. News & World Report, Best Hospitals 2021 Edition. The University of Wisconsin Hospitals is pleased to announce we were among the 71 institutions honored with the Star Performer award this year.

According to the AOA, approximately 80% of patients do not receive the recommended osteoporosis care following a fracture. This award recognizes sites for an outstanding commitment to improving patient bone health after a fracture, and efforts to prevent future fractures. The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation would like to thank all individuals who maintain our commitment to quality improvement to help close the osteoporosis treatment gap, and would like to recognize Kristyn Hare for leading the fragility and fracture program.
