Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency

A Welcome from the Director

Thank you for your interest in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Congratulations on your choice of PM&R as a career! The diversity of our field provides ample opportunity for developing a rewarding career in a variety of settings, and our training program will help you work toward that goal.

We have many opportunities for research, thanks to the resources of a world-renowned academic institution, and our faculty have an ongoing commitment to both clinical and didactic teaching.

In our program, we emphasize balance between inpatient and outpatient settings. In the inpatient setting, you will manage patients with a variety of disabilities and lead a skilled multidisciplinary team. Our outpatient clinics provide several opportunities to work with a range of diagnoses, from acute musculoskeletal injuries to chronic pain, including interventions, sports medicine, and occupational injuries. We also offer thorough and diverse training in EMG.

Madison—consistently ranked one of the “Best Places to Live”—provides a unique living environment with the cultural and recreational advantages of a larger city but without some of the challenges of a more urban setting.

We hope you will consider us for your training.
