New Investigator Research Grant Awarded

Congratulations to the entire research team on “Prospective Evaluation of Running-Related Injury Disability in High School Cross Country Runners” for receiving the New Investigators Research Grant! This annual award of $10,000 supports clinical research projects of American Academy of Sports Physical Therapists (AASPT) members early in their career.

This research study, conducted by Evan O. Nelson, PT, DPT, PhD; Mikel Joachim, MS; Bryan Heiderscheit, PT, PhD, FAPTA; Stephanie Kliethermes, PhD; Tim A. McGuine, PhD, ATC, evaluates the validity and responsiveness of the University of Wisconsin Running Injury and Recovery Index (UWRI) in high school cross country runners, and examine the relationship between UWRI and training stress following running-related injury (RRI). The findings of this research study are a critical first-step to creating evidence-based return to running guidelines for both medical professionals, and the youth running community.

Congratulations again, to this outstanding team of researchers!
