Program Overview

The Pain Medicine Fellowship Program accepts two fellows each year. Candidates with training in anesthesia, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, or psychiatry are encouraged to apply. Our goal is to train pain medicine specialists who, in conjunction with other members of a multidisciplinary team, are able to:

  • Develop and implement individualized pain treatment plans based on comprehensive assessment of pain and related comorbidities and monitor and adjust treatments to optimize outcomes
  • Elicit and translate a patient’s values and goals into relevant plans of care, with sensitivity and awareness of different backgrounds
  • Demonstrate judgment, competence, and technical proficiency in use of interventional pain management techniques in patients with complex pain problems
  • Develop and foster positive team attitudes and use strategies to improve team performance
  • Appreciate roles of other specialists in meeting pain management challenges
  • Appraise and assimilate scientific evidence relevant to pain medicine
