Program Overview
 

The Pain Medicine Fellowship Program accepts one PM&R-trained, and one anesthesia-trained fellow each year. Our goal is to train pain medicine specialists who, in conjunction with other members of a multidisciplinary team, are able to:

  • Develop and implement individualized pain treatment plans based on comprehensive assessment of pain and related comorbidities and monitor and adjust treatments to optimize outcomes
  • Elicit and translate a patient’s values and goals into relevant plans of care, with sensitivity and awareness of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrate judgment, competence, and technical proficiency in use of interventional pain management techniques in patients with complex pain problems
  • Develop and foster positive team attitudes and use strategies to improve team performance
  • Appreciate roles of other specialists in meeting pain management challenges
  • Appraise and assimilate scientific evidence relevant to pain medicine
