Favorite place in the Madison area?

Anywhere outdoors in Madison is a great place to be. During the spring and summer, we frequent the plethora of parks that dot the city every few blocks or head out for a lake day. But my favorite places are probably the farms in the fall, where we become regulars for the awesome apple picking, corn mazes, and fun carnival games and fairs.

Favorite part about UW Madison PM&R?

Everyone is so kind and genuinely helpful. All of us residents are actually friends and joke around like siblings. The attendings are all smart, cool, and fun. Many of them also have kids, and so they have been accommodating and understanding of my own hectic family life. I also haven’t had a single bad experience when asking a dumb question or needing help from them. Even in the middle of the night when on call, everyone is willing to help and talk through a tough decision with me.

Hobbies and interests outside of work?

Cheese, Chocolate Milk, and Ice Cream are some of my top interests (God bless Wisconsin!). My wife and I have three kids with a fourth on the way, and we love catching frogs and turtles at nearby creeks, camping, and building forts in our backyard/basement. I really enjoy baseball, basketball, football, and volleyball, and I’ve developed a newfound love for hockey since moving to Wisconsin. I have recently become very interested in perfecting the use of my Blackstone griddle.

Clinical interests?

This is still up in the air. I really enjoyed EMGs, and fluoroscopy injections, and any sort of procedure I get to do. But what I really want to get better at is my MSK exam skills. So far, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve seen, so my current plan is to pursue general physiatry, although I am keeping an open mind to any area that may call to me more than others during residency.
