Sports Medicine Fellowship

Research Opportunities

We require participation in at least one sports-medicine related research project over the course of the fellowship that produces a manuscript suitable for publication. There are nearly unlimited opportunities to participate in clinical, outcomes, basic science, and translational projects with mentors throughout our division and department.

Existing collaborations with the UW School of Veterinary Medicine, the Departments of Kinesiology and Mechanical Engineering, and our own Orthopedic Department bioengineers and stem cell researchers provide a wide range of options to expand and develop research horizons.

Fellows are encouraged to make use of all available resources, including:

  • Laboratory space and equipment
  • Computer and data analysis services
  • Statistical consultation services
  • Research/basic science conferences
  • Faculty expertise and supervision
  • Library services
  • Grant services
  • Publication services
  • Funding

Financial support for projects is available through the department’s Research and Development fund. Further, the department provides assistance and support for Institutional Review Board protocol writing, grant writing, and statistical analysis.

Our faculty members are involved in a wide range of research activities. They will help fellows choose research projects and mentor fellows throughout the research process. Explore current research opportunities via our research section.
